The School Dress Code

I don't feel a uniform makes a school any more unified than usual. We may all look the same but that doesn't mean it will make the learning environment any better. Most students dress appropriately for school anyway. Also, it is a way to identify ourselves as well as varying personalities. It doesn't stop anyone from being judged.

By wearing normal clothes, we express our creativity. We all have our different identities, and by wearing uniforms we lose that. Whether we wear uniforms or not people will still be made fun of. You're not judged by the clothes you wear, but how you look and convey your personality. Having on the same clothes as a person, for example, in special education, would not prevent that person from being teased.

All in all, a uniform doesn't make the school any better or worse. It's just subjective. It may seem unified but that's only because we're forced to wear the same clothes. It strips our originalities, which is the main gripe. Students in high school are old enough to have discipline and order without the use of uniforms.
